My first blog post!
Hello hello! Welcome to my blog! I was inspired to create a blog because I love writing and wanted to just write down my thoughts in one place. I want to focus on fitness because that's something that's been an important part of my life recently and is providing me with a sense of normalcy during this crisis. My classes are online now and it can be hard to structure my life so I've been using exercise to help me do that!
So what did I do today?
Well, let me tell you!
I got up at 6:45 but it took me a while to actually get out of bed and get ready to go. I was in exercise clothes and out the door just before 7:40 and then proceeded to go for a 4 mile run!
It was pretty hard, and I did have to stop a couple of times while waiting for traffic lights to turn green, but I ended up completing my run in under 40 minutes (like, 3 seconds under, so just barely). I'm a pretty slow runner and my running route is superrrr hilly so this was really exciting for me! I kind of struggle to run whenever I'm at home; running around my neighborhood/in the areas right next to my neighborhood is incredibly hilly and steep and also super boring (I think this is the main problem). My usual running route when I'm at school is hilly too but it's a lot prettier and definitely easier to run.
After getting home, I quickly showered and then went out with my mom to walk our dogs for 30 minutes. I really look forward to my daily walks with my mom and my dogs; I think it provides us all with the exercise we need!
After that, we dashed home and I fit in a 10 minute core workout on the Peloton app by Robin before my mom and I went to Target and Philz! And by that I mean we picked up my Philz and then we drove to Target and I sat in the car and did some homework while my mom ran through Target. I've really missed having Philz and while I don't enjoy leaving the house, they're a smaller chain native to the Bay Area and I really want to support them. I won't be getting Philz as often as pre-quarantine (which is honestly a good thing, I drink SO MUCH Philz that the baristas at the Berkeley location recognize me).
After getting back, we did a 16 minute Yoga with Adriene class. It's day 31 of my mom and me doing yoga everyday, and I'm super impressed with us! For years, I've wanted to do yoga everyday and would occasionally go through spurts of time of doing yoga everyday for a week before stopping. I'm really proud of myself for this and I LOVE Adriene- she's so calming!
After that, it was time for a quick 10 minute Peloton arms workout courtesy of my fave instructor Tunde! And then it was time for hours upon hours of schoolwork (I have a 25 page paper due in two weeks- luckily I wrote a first draft AND edited it into a workable second draft over the past two days...) before class at 3:30.
After class, it was time for my new favorite family tradition- our daily family dinner! We all go around and say what we're thankful for that day, and I am so lucky and so fortunate to have had so much to be thankful for today. The past week was really mentally challenging; I'm set to graduate in a month and don't have a full-time job lined up yet which is really stressful, but I'm trying to focus on the positives.
Thanks for reading! Can't wait to write again tomorrow <3
